Granite for Architectural Specification

Afrika National Granite partners with architects and specification professionals to integrate natural stone into residential, commercial, and public projects. Our Rustenburg granite offers a Mohs hardness of 6-7, water absorption below 0.4%, and a compressive strength exceeding 200 MPa — properties that make it suitable for structural facades, high-traffic flooring, and exposed exterior cladding. We supply technical data sheets, sample sets, and specification support to help architects confidently specify granite for their projects.

Specification Support from Quarry to Completion

Rustenburg granite's fine-grained gabbro composition delivers exceptional density (approximately 2,950 kg/m³), minimal porosity, and outstanding freeze-thaw resistance. These properties make it suitable for exterior cladding in coastal and high-altitude environments, commercial flooring in airports and retail centres, and structural facades where long-term performance is non-negotiable. We provide full technical data sheets including flexural strength, thermal expansion, and slip resistance ratings for each finish.

Six Finishes for Every Architectural Intent

Specify Rustenburg granite in polished (mirror-gloss for interior feature walls), honed (matte for contemporary flooring), flamed (textured for slip-resistant outdoor surfaces), antique (brushed for heritage projects), sandblasted (uniform texture for exterior cladding), or sawn-cut (raw for industrial aesthetics). Each finish changes the stone's visual character and functional properties, giving architects precise control over the material's appearance and performance in context.

Proven Material Properties for Demanding Applications

Our team works directly with architects and specification writers to provide material samples, technical documentation, BIM-compatible product data, and project-specific recommendations. Whether you're specifying cladding panels for a commercial tower or selecting countertop stone for a luxury residential development, we support the process from initial concept through to on-site delivery and quality verification.

Our Process

Ensuring the highest quality granite is in your hands

We take pride in every step of our process, making sure that each product is crafted to meet the highest standards and carefully aligned with the specific requirements of every project.

Extraction

Granite is extracted in blocks through precision drilling and wire sawing, a method that minimizes waste while maintaining the integrity and quality of each block.

Quality Inspection

Each extracted block is inspected for quality, structural integrity, and suitability for cutting, ensuring the stone meets required standards before processing.

Cutting

Granite blocks are cut into slabs ranging from 20mm to 200mm in thickness using advanced Italian multi-wire saws and gangsaw machinery.

Finishing

Granite slabs are polished using state-of-the-art technology for a high-gloss finish or treated to achieve textures such as sandblasted, flamed, antique, or honed.

Cut to Size

Bridge saws are used to precisely cut granite to custom specifications, ideal for large-scale developments and specialized project requirements.

Prepared

The granite products are quality checked and then carefully wrapped and secured with various protective materials to ensure a secure delivery.

Packaged

Our granite products are carefully packed into containers and firmly secured to prevent damage during transport, ensuring they arrive in perfect condition.
